The current expectation for all the basketball teams in Italy is that they'll be only able to allow 35% of the capacity of their arenas. This is what the technical-scientific committee has decided for indoor sports. However, this decision made several people unhappy inside the Italian basketball federation and among the clubs. For example, Virtus Bologna CEO Luca Baraldi said that a season with that kind of capacity is not sustainable for the clubs.

"35% of the capacity is too much of a limitation for us to think that the season can start as planned. The arenas must be fully open to the people who are no longer able to infect others. Who has the 'green pass' (a certification that proves that you have received at least the first dose of vaccine) must be able to enter the arenas and teams should be allowed to greet them without any kind of limitations," Baraldi explained to 'Il Resto del Carlino'.

"Having fans in the stands is fundamental because an entire season with just a third of the people in the arena is not sustainable. The measures decided by the technical-scientific committee are not enough," Baraldi continued. "These measures they just don't consider the needs of clubs and fans."
