The Charlotte Hornets point guard and 2021 NBA Rookie of The Year LaMelo Ball wants to change his jersey number from 2 to 1 starting with next season. However, it appears he won't be able to do it because of certain league requirements.

Despite wearing No. 1 for most of his high-school and professional career, LaMelo Ball wore No. 2 last season because Malik Monk had No. 1 for the Hornets. But with Monk signing a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, the No. 1 became available. However, according toAshley Stroehlein of NBC Charlotte, the league has a deadline for a jersey change, which is more than a year.

But LaMelo Ball hasn't given up on a jersey number change just yet. He has taken his campaign to social media. The youngest of the Ball brothers, who on Instagram alone has 7.1M followers (Hornets have 1.6M), addressed NIKE and the NBA regarding his wishes on the uniform changes.
