Although, Usman Garuba's transition to the NBA will cost him around €2.3 million of his own money. According to BasketNews sources, this year's buyout was set at €3M, but every other season spent in Europe would have increased his buyout by an additional €1M. Thus, making his early move a more prudent financial decision.

His rookie contract with the Rockets guarantees him $1,961,100 in his first year and $2,059,360 in his second year, a total of just over $4M.

"Everyone who acknowledges me knows that it was a dream for me from an early age, I want to get there and give everything as always," said Garuba.

Last season in the EuroLeague Garuba averaged 3.9 points and 4 rebounds in 39 games.

He was also a member of the Spanish national team, which participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. In Japan, where Spain finished 6th, Garuba appeared in all 4 games and contributed 1 point and 2.8 rebounds in 11.6 minutes of playing time.
