Jaleen Smith nearing a deal with Alba Berlin / News - Basketnews.com

Jaleen Smith is close to signing with the German champions, Alba Berlin, Gerard Sole reports.

Smith has been on the radar of multiple EuroLeague teams, including Zalgiris Kaunas. The 1.93 m American is currently representing the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League. The guard is averaging 10.0 points (29% 3PT), 4.0 assists, and 3.6 rebounds over 3 games.

The 26-year-old has been playing in Germany since 2017. After four years in the NCAA with the New Hampshire Wildcats, he signed with MLP Academics Heidelberg of the second German division.

Later, he climbed up the ranks and joined MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg of the German Basketball Bundesliga, where he spent the last two years.

Smith averaged 15.7 points (31.5% 3PT), 5.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 19.0 PIR over 33.7 minutes in Germany last season. Smith's play earned him the German championship MVP award.
