The newcomers of the Italian basketball champions, Kevin Hervey and Mouhammadou Jaiteh, made their first public appearances for the local press. Both players are eager to join Milos Teodosic and Co. in the upcoming season battles.

Jaiteh was dominant in the Turkish Basketball Super League last season. The 2.08 m center averaged 16.1 points, 11 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 21.7 EFF over 30.8 minutes with Gaziantep. He has penned a two-year deal with Segafredo Virtus Bologna.

The Frenchman Kevin Hervey (26, 2.08) is looking forward to showing his abilities on the court: “I can’t wait to start, the first impressions are more than good. Compared to the experience two years ago in Turin, I have more know-how, more energy, I played in leagues other than the Italian one and I had experiences that will help me.”

Hervey had an impressive EuroCup debut last season. The 57th pick of the 2018 NBA Draft played for Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and averaged 12.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 13.5 EFF over 27 minutes. Hervey was third among the best rebounders in the EuroCup. The 24-year-old and Virtus have agreed on a two-year contract.

“This club won the title last year (the Lega Basket Serie A), now we are here and I see why this club won, I can feel it. I can see that it is a club of champions, I’m happy to be part of it. This summer I reviewed some of the games I played and realized what I can improve on and how I played in some situations,” said Hervey.

"As far as Kevin is concerned, we had the idea of improving in the fourth position, maintaining quality and adding physicality. Hervey was first on our list," the negotiations leading up to the signing remembered Virtus general manager Paolo Ronci. "From the first phone calls with him, we understood that we could have possibilities because Kevin knew well the history of this club and our roster: one of the things he asked me was if Milos Teodosic would stay with us."

Speaking about Jaiteh, Ronci was impressed by the two seasons he had in Russia and Turkey. "Since last year I have been watching his games. He performed well against the best teams in the Turkish league, which play in the EuroLeague. I spoke to a lot of people in Turkey and reports about him were top-notch. They are both first-round picks."

Virtus will compete in Group B of the EuroCup next season. Sergio Scariolo's team will open their season in an away game against Frutti Extra Bursaspor on October 20.
