Victor Claver: 'Since I left Valencia, returning home has always been a priority' / News - Basketnews.com
The forward, who is going to wear a number 1 with Valencia Basket, was introduced as a new player, after signing a three-year deal. The 32-year-old, 2.08-meter Spaniard returns to the club after nine years.
Last season with FC Barcelona Victor Claver became champion of the Endesa League and the Copa del Rey. He also participated in the EuroLeague Final Four, where his team lost in the final.
"You all know me. You have seen me grow with this club, even before I put on the shirt when I was 16 years old and I am very excited about returning. I have received a lot of love, not only from my family who is very happy that I am returning home but from all the surrounding people," said Claver during his introduction. "Coming home means much more than playing at the Fonteta again, it means everything. My goal is to continue helping the club to grow with the experience that I have accumulated over the years.
I want to help this new project meet its objectives. That is my motivation. And also to be an example for young players. Valencia Basket has always been my team, since I left, it has always been a priority to be able to return home and I am very happy to be here again," Claver admitted.
Paco Raga, honorary president of Valencia Basket, was happy to welcome back one of the most important representatives in the history of Valencian basketball. "A more mature Victor Claver returns, who has accumulated experience always competing at the highest level both in clubs and in the Spanish national team. I hope that he will soon feel as comfortable as in his first stage. And that he can help us to continue growing and reaching new challenges."
In the upcoming season, Valencia Basket will play in the EuroCup's Group B. The Spanish squad will start their campaign in a home game against Promitheas Patras.
