Court of Arbitration of Sports rejected Olympiacos' case against Panathinaikos / News - Basketnews.com
In 2018, Olympiacos Piraeus sued Panathinaikos OPAP Athens to the Court of Arbitration of Sports. The reds complained that the greens accused Olympiacos of attempting to bribe referees Carmelo Paternico, Jakub Zamojski, and Miguel Angel Perez before the two Greek teams matched up in the EuroLeague Regular Season Round 6.
The game's crew chief reported that the former Panathinaikos owner, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, accused the three officials of betting €20,000 each on the outcome of the game.
Three years later, on August 16, CAS rejected the Olympiacos claim due to a lack of concrete evidence, multiple sources report.
EuroLeague Basketball also investigated the case of alleged bribery but dismissed it for the same reason CAS did - there was no concrete evidence. An Independent Disciplinary Judge fined Giannakopoulos for his accusations.
