14-year NBA veteran Jared Dudley has announced his retirement and joined the Dallas Mavericks as their new assistant coach.

The 36-year-old forward averaged 0.5 points and 1.8 rebounds over 12 NBA appearances last season.
Dudley tore his MCL in March. He did recover, however, and appeared in two playoff games against the Phoenix Suns.
Dudley spent the last two years with the Los Angeles Lakers working alongside assistant coach Jason Kidd. Kidd became the new Mavericks coach during this offseason.
Dudley made his NBA debut in 2007. He has spent time with the Charlotte Hornets, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers. His career averages are 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
