Official: Juancho Hernangomez and Jarrett Culver move to Memphis, Patrick Beverley goes to the Timberwolves / News - Basketnews.com
The Memphis Grizzlies have officially announced their trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Grizzlies acquired Spanish forward Juancho Hernangomez and guard Jarrett Culver from the Timberwolves in exchange for Patrick Beverley. Memphis also announced that they've waived forward Sean McDermott.
Hernangomez had a clash with the Timberwolves front office during the summer. The Spanish player felt that the Timberwolves denied him the possibility of joining his NT for the Olympic Games. The NBA franchise felt that Hernangomez hadn't fully recovered from a shoulder injury, while the Spanish doctors had given him the green light to play.
Jorge Garbajosa, the president of the Spanish basketball federation, accused Gersson Rosas, Timberwolves president of basketball operations, of forcing Hernangomez to sit out the Olympic Tournament.
Hernangomez is set to make around $6.9 million this season and has another year left on his contract, which is not fully guaranteed.
