Report: Juancho Hernangomez's time in Memphis might be over already / News - Basketnews.com
Last week the Memphis Grizzlies officially announced the arrival of Juancho Hernangomez and Jarrett Culver via trade from Minnesota Timberwolves but the Spanish forward's time in Memphis might be over even before it started according to information from the United States media outlets.
ESPN's Bobby Marks reported that Memphis didn't ask Hernangomez to report to the team nor to take a physical. That could be a sign that the player is not expected to remain with Memphis long-term.
Hernangomez is set to make $6.9 million this season and has also another year, worth around $7.4 million, left on his deal. The final year of the deal, though, is not guaranteed, so if Memphis decide to waive him, they wouldn't have to pay him for the final year.
Recently, the Grizzlies also decided to waive Rajon Rondo, who had arrived via trade from the Los Angeles Clippers and is now expected to join the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent. Memphis still has 17 players with guaranteed contracts, two above the league maximum, so other changes are expected to arrive before the start of the training camp, scheduled for the 28th of September.
