2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup drawing pots revealed / News - Basketnews.com
FIBA announced the 2023 World Cup qualifying pots for each continent today. The draw was conducted according to the FIBA World Rankings.
In Europe, 32 teams were divided into eight pots:
Pot 1: Spain, Slovenia, France, Serbia. Pot 2: Italy, Lithuania, Greece, Germany. Pot 3: Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Turkey. Pot 4: Croatia, Montenegro, Latvia, Ukraine. Pot 5: Finland, Georgia, Belgium, Hungary. Pot 6: Great Britain, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Netherlands. Pot 7: Iceland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Belarus. Pot 8: North Macedonia, Sweden, Portugal, Slovakia.The teams will be divided into eight groups of four teams each in a draw on Tuesday.
The three best teams in each group will advance to the second stage, where four groups of six teams each will be formed. The teams that will take one of the first three spots in each group will win a ticket to the World Cup.
The 2023 World Cup will be held in three countries: Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines.
