General manager Rob Pelinka did not release details, but ESPN said the deal is for one year and $2.6 million.

Rondo, 35, averaged 5.4 points and 4.4 assists in 45 games (three starts) last season with the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers.

The 15-year veteran played for the Lakers from 2018-20, averaging 8.1 points, 6.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds and helping the team win the 2020 NBA championship.

The Clippers dealt Rondo to Memphis on Aug. 16 in the Eric Bledsoe trade. The Grizzlies bought out the final year of Rondo's contract on Saturday, making him a free agent.

A four-time All-Star and three-time league leader in assists, Rondo also won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008. He owns career averages of 10.0 points, 8.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 918 games (732 starts).
