President of Partizan Belgrade: 'The club needs to pay €70K to Andrea Trinchieri' / News - Basketnews.com
Ostoja Mijailovic, the president of Partizan Belgrade, confirmed to the reporters of Mozzartsport that the team will have to pay more than €70,000 euros to their former head coach Andrea Trinchieri, now the head coach of FC Bayern Munich. Trinchieri became the head coach of Partizan in November of 2018 and left the team last summer despite having one year remaining on his original deal.
The FIBA Basketball Arbitral Tribunal imposed on the Serbian club an obligation to pay €70,875 to coach Andrea Trinchieri. The president of the club indicated that the original request from the coach was ten times higher.
"It's true that we received the BAT verdict according to which we owe coach Trinchieri €70,875 based on salaries plus a bonus for reaching the quarter-finals of the EuroCup, even if we ended up not playing those games because of Covid. We'll pay that amount and we'll respect the decision. It's also true that the subject of the original lawsuit was much higher because the coach asked for €711,600 and that amount was increased by interests and other costs to €740,000. But it was clear from the beginning that the law was on our side."
