Zalgiris lose second straight nail-bitter, drop the game against Lietkabelis / News - Basketnews.com

After losing a nail-bitter against Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar, Zalgiris Kaunas lose against Lithuanian rivals, Lietkabelis Panevezys 80-82 (20-14, 15-27, 25-23, 20-18).

After winning the first quarter, Zalgiris went down in the second period and trailed for most of the contest. The game went down to the wire at the end of the final quarter.

The score was tied at 79 with under 40 seconds remaining. Dovydas Giedraitis scored after the timeout, and Edgaras Ulanovas could not inbound the ball in five seconds.

However, Giedraitis missed both free throws, and Lukas Lekavicius had a chance to tie the game with a last-second shot, but his attempt was off the mark, and Lietkabelis came out with a victory.

Lietkabelis only had eight players at their disposal in this match.

Zalgiris will travel to Turkey to play in the Gloria Cup next, where they will face Lokomotiv again on September 8.
