Saras on a win against Badalona: ‘I don’t think we should be happy with this victory’ / News - Basketnews.com
Barcelona continue its preparation for the upcoming season. On Saturday evening, Barcelona beat 82-69 Joventut Badalona and advanced to the Catalunya Cup final.
However, Barcelona’s head coach, Sarunas Jasikevicius, wasn’t very happy with his team’s performance.
“I don’t think we should be happy with this victory,” Saras said after the game. “We didn’t execute simple things on which we were working on before the season. I think we should be more solid, and not everyone contributed to the win in a way they could have.”
Despite that, the Lithuanian coach emphasized that he likes how some newcomers find their place in the team.
“After all, it’s normal that in this stage of the season, there are mistakes. Most importantly, some of the new players find their place in the team very well. They will help us a lot during the season,” Jasikevicius finished.
One of those new players was Rokas Jokubaitis, who scored 11 points (1/1 2PT, 3/4 3PT) and added 5 assists, 1 rebound, 2 steals, and 17 EFF in 16 minutes played.
“I’m delighted that the whole team helps me,” said Jokubaitis. “We build a great relationship in a very short time. Of course, they are players with a lot of experience, and they know how to take care of younger players. I’m very happy here.”
In the upcoming Catalunya Cup final, Barcelona will face BAXI Manresa, which beat MoraBanc Andorra in the second semi-final.
