T.J. Warren's rehab taking longer than expected / News - Basketnews.com
T.J. Warren, who had a breakout season in 2019-20, remains out indefinitely after a foot injury he sustained at the start of last season.
Warren was dealing with a foot inflammation before the last season tipped off. However, he was eager to play, which led to a foot fracture just four games into the campaign.
The 28-year-old underwent surgery nine months ago, rejoining the Indiana Pacers in mid-February with his foot in a walking boot.
He spoke to reporters at the end of last season, explaining the difficulty of the injury: "It’s not like a (soft) tissue thing. It’s like two screws and a bone. It (takes) a little bit more time to get healed enough to be able to compete in a high-level basketball game."
Warren had progressed to playing 1-on-1 about a month ago and spent a few weeks working out in Los Angeles. However, he posted an update about still being ways to go in his recovery on Twitter earlier today and remains out indefinitely.
The 2.03 m forward averaged 19.8 points (40% 3PT), 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals over 32.9 minutes in the 2019-20 season.
