With the departure of veteran point guard Andrea Cinciarini, who joined Reggio Emilia, AX Armani Exchange Milan needed to find a new team captain. Friday's announcement revealed that the Italian team has two new captains.

Forward Nicolo Melli and point guard Sergio Rodriguez were named as co-captains for the upcoming season.

During his introductory press conference, Melli said that the decision regarding the new captain would be taken by the whole team and this was confirmed by the GM of the team, Christos Stavropoulos.

"We've taken this decision together. Both players represent important aspects of this team. Nicolò because of his history with the club and Sergio for what he brought to the team since his arrival. Their role is not gonna be nominal: Nicolò and Sergio are two examples of professionalism and dedication in which the whole Olimpia's world recognizes itself."

"I'm very happy to be the captain of this team with Sergio," said Nicolo Melli. "The fact that the group decided to nominate me, despite the fact that I've just joined the team, it makes me happy and proud. Having the opportunity to be the captain of Olimpia Milan is a privilege that few players had."

"I consider this designation a huge honor," said Spanish point guard Sergio Rodriguez. "Sharing this responsibility with Nicolo will be a pleasure for me. I've always been proud of representing Olimpia and the city of Milan, since I've been here I felt at home. Now the most important thing is to work well, improving and laying the foundations to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves."
