UNICS waste major lead but Lorenzo Brown's double-double pull out the win over Monaco / News - Basketnews.com
In a rematch of last season's EuroCup finals, UNICS Kazan had their revenge on AS Monaco, and despite squandering a huge lead, came out on top 85-84 (29-13, 20-18, 19-28, 17-25).
UNICS were firing on all cylinders in the first quarter, gaining a 20-point lead with under two minutes remaining in the first (27-7). The Russian squad proceeded to dominate in the second period and held a firm advantage at halftime (49-31).
The tides changed in the second half, and Monaco started to gain on Velimir Perasovic's squad. The EuroCup champions managed to cut their deficit to single digits going into the final quarter (68-59).
However, they did not stop there and really gave UNICS a run for their money. Yakuba Outtrara's free throw gave Monaco their first lead of the game with 5:28 remaining (75-76).
After going back and forth, Monaco still had a one-point advantage with 41 seconds remaining (83-84). However, Artem Klimenko's dunk put UNICS back up, and the team managed to maintain their one-point lead to win the game, despite playing without Mario Hezonja.
