Even though Barcelona held an advantage from the very first minute, they won the first period by onlyone point. The second quarter also belonged to them, as the Catalans gained a 9-point lead at one point (37-46).

Barca continued to extend their advantage in the third quarter and gained their largest lead halfway through the period (44-63). However, the Royal club did not roll over and started to chip at their rivals' lead.

Real's deficit was down to single digits going into the final period (62-71). And in the fourth, Real went on a 9-0 run to get within a single point (78-79).

As Barcelona kept missing shots, Real showed character and were the better team in crunch time, winning their 8th Supercopa trophy in the club's history.

Sergio Llull turned back the clock in this game, finishing with 24 points. The veteran guard burst into tears after the game.
