Leandro Bolmaro officially released by FC Barcelona, introduced in Minnesota / News - Basketnews.com
FC Barcelona and Leandro Bolmaro have reached an agreement for the termination of the contract that linked the two sides until 2023. The Argentine player was selected 23rd in this year's NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. However, his rights were soon traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves where he will be playing for the next three years.
In fact, Bolmaro was introduced just a few minutes after his official release from Barcelona, along with the Wolves' other acquisitions, like Patrick Beverley. "I am very excited. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, it's a dream come true for me," the guard-forward from Cordoba said. Chris Finch, the team's head coach, and Colombia native Gersson Rosas, President of Basketball Operations, were joining him.
FC Barcelona will receive a €900 thousand buyout for this signing. Timberwolves will cover €750 thousand, while Bolmaro will have to pay €150 out of his own pocket.
Leandro Bolmaro landed in Barcelona from Bahia Basket of his native Argentina in the summer of 2018. In his first year, he played with Barca B in LEB Oro, amassing 33 games with an average of 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. It was the 2019-20 season when Bolmaro began to train regularly with the first team and played a total of 15 games, between Liga Endesa and Euroleague, under the orders of Svetislav Pesic.
During his last year with the "Blaugrana", Bolmaro appeared in 75 games (41 in ACB, 30 in the EuroLeague, 2 in the Supercopa Endesa, and 2 in the Copa del Rey), with his highlight being 26 points scored against MoraBanc Andorra (32 PIR), both personal records. It should be noted that in the Final Four in Cologne (Germany), Bolmaro, played an average of 26 minutes per game in the semifinal against AX Armani Exchange Milan and final against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
