American forward Jarrell Brantley is expected to sign a deal with the Russian EuroLeague club UNICS Kazan, a source told BasketNews. Brantley was waived yesterday by the Utah Jazz after spending two seasons with the team under a two-way contract. UNICS had recently parted ways with veteran forward Will Thomas, who then joined French club AS Monaco.

Brantley, a College of Charleston alumn, was drafted with the 50th pick overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. He didn't find a lot of space with the Jazz but he had a really great season in the G League in 2019-2020, averaging 18.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. Tony Jones of The Athletic was the first to mention that the player had already secured a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague deal.

In Europe Brantley is expected to have a much more central role and will also have certain financial security, considering the fact that the deal is expected to be in a seven-figure territory.

UNICS already made important transfer moves over the summer, including the acquisition of former Panathinaikos wing Mario Hezonja and point guard Lorenzo Brown.
