Milos Teodosic shines as Virtus take down Venezia in Italian Supercup thriller / News - Basketnews.com

Milos Teodosic put up a solid performance, and Virtus Segafredo Bologna became the second team to advance into the Italian Supercup final.

The Italian champions 72-71 (20-11, 14-20, 16-16, 22-24) beat Umana Reyer Venezia and will face AX Armani Exchange Milan in the final game.

With 1:19 left to play, Mitchell Watt made a jumper and cut Venezia’s deficit to a single point (64-65), but Milos Teodosic answered with a 3-pointer, and Virtus were leading 68-64.

However, Venezia didn’t give up just yet. Austin Daye knocked both of his free throws, while Watt added only one, and with 22 seconds left to play, Virtus were still leading by one point (68-67).

Right after that, Kevin Hervey answered with his free throws, while Stefano Tonut made only one, and Virtus led by two points (70-68) and had possession. Kyle Weems showed his composure and extended Virtus free throws streak to four in a row.

Just before the end of the game, Andrea De Nicolao made a 3-pointer, but Virtus managed to hold out and got the victory.

Teodosic, who had a game-high 22 EFF, finished the game with 14 points (0/2 2PT, 4/5 3PT, 2/2 FT), 8 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, and 2 turnovers.

Virtus players also a beautiful gesture to their injured teammate Ekpe Udoh, wearing jerseys with his initials during the warm-up.

Hervey added 17 points (6/12 2PT, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, and 18 EFF.

Venezia: Stefano Tonut 16 (3/4 2PT, 3/8 3PT, 9 REB, 21 EFF), Victor Sanders 15, Mitchell Watt 13 (4/8 2PT).

Virtus: Kevin Hervey 17 (6/12 2PT, 9 REB, 18 EFF), Milos Teodosic 14 (4/5 3PT, 8 AST, 22 EFF), Mouhammadou Jaiteh 9.
