Veteran guard JJ Redick announces retirement from basketball / News - Basketnews.com
The sharpshooter has officially announced his retirement from basketball today in his podcast 'The Old Man & the Three'. Redick added that last season was extremely difficult for him for many reasons: being away from his family, Covid protocols and not being able to play up to his standards.
JJ Redick spent the final part of last season with the Dallas Mavericks after being traded by the New Orleans Pelicans. In his final 44 games, the 37-year-old averaged 7.4 points per game.
Over this summer, Redick decided to wait and not commit to any team and gauge his willingness to play another season. But now Redick has decided that it's time for him to call it a day and dedicate more time to his family. The veteran shooting guard will now start exploring the next phase of his life.
During his NBA career, Redick played for the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Dallas Mavericks. He reached the NBA finals once when he was playing with the Orlando Magic. He averaged 12.8 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds per game in his career while shooting 41.5% from three-point.
