Ty Lawson and Kolossos Rhodes proved to be an impossible relationship.

The American point guard and the Greek team agreed to a deal on New Year's Eve, but the former Denver Nuggets star couldn't travel to Greece.

Back then, Kolossos were forced to call off the deal and sign another player for the remainder of the season.

"We were talking on the phone, and all of a sudden, the immigration officers stopped him," the team's GM Giorgos Gotzogiannis told BasketNews.com. "We exchanged contracts, he changed his ticket to Greece two times, but in the end, he couldn't fly over to Rhodes."

Nevertheless, Lawson, 33, eventually landed on Greek soil in the first week of May. He watched a Greek League playoff game between AEK and PAOK at OAKA, went sightseeing, practiced at a facility located in the northern suburbs of Athens, and even got to enjoy a bit of Athens by night, as the country was gradually coming out of the lockdown.

A couple of months ago, the two sides came to an agreement, which only lasted for one official game. It was a 7-minute appearance against Olympiacos for the Greek Cup, where Lawson went scoreless.

According to reports, the 34-year-old received an extremely lucrative offer, worth $1,8 million, to return to China, although he had been banned from the country after making some comments on his social media that were considered racist.

Last season, Lawson played in China with the Fujian Sturgeons, averaging 27.3 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from three-point.
