On a Thursday night, Real Madrid will begin the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season against the reigning champs Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Pablo Laso, who will not have Anthony Randolph and Trey Thompkins yet, expressed his satiety when asked again about Jaycee Carroll’s future.

“Why don’t you ask him? He is not here, I don’t wait for him. We have a game tomorrow. I will ask him”, said the Spanish coach.

Throughout the whole summer, there were a lot of rumors regarding possible Carroll’s future. Some reports stated that the American shooting guard considers retirement.

However, three weeks ago, it was reported that the 38-year-old veteran has had a renewal offer on the table for months but is yet to respond.

After being asked about the upcoming game against Efes, Laso praised the EuroLeague champions.

“We start the EuroLeague (season) with a really demanding game. They have been playing high level these years,” said Laso. “They have lost Sanli but have added Petrusev, who has been one of the best players in the Adriatic League. Their backcourt is great, and they fit well. We will need to do our best to compete against them.”

After a great start of the season, beating FC Barcelona at the Supercopa and winning the first three ACB League games, Laso admits he is happy with the team.

“I’m pleased with how the team has behaved so far. Five official games, five wins, and one title. What can I say? There is a lot to improve on, but we are very good in some aspects”.

Laso, who is currently the third coach in % wins in the EuroLeague, also talked about another exciting season.

“It’s hard to say which teams are favorites in such a competitive league like this. Efes, Barça, CSKA, Fenerbahce, Madrid... But look, Zenit was close to defeat Barça last year, Bayern ended fifth in the Regular Season. The list is too long,” finished Real’s coach.
