"That would be like me telling him: 'Yo, your wife is going into labor. How dare you leave this team to tend to your wife?'" Green said on Thursday." That's something that's personal to him and health-related. It's personal to his family."
According to Green, the league has been pressuring players into getting vaccinated too much.
"I think there is something to be said for people's concern about something that's being pressed so hard. Why are you pressing this so hard? Just pressing and pressing and pressing. You have to honor people's feelings and their own personal beliefs.
I think that's been lost when it comes to vaccinated and non-vaccinated. It kind of sucks that that's been lost. It's said that we live in the land of the free, but you're not giving anyone freedom."
"You're making people do something, essentially. That goes against everything America stands for. Or, supposedly stands for."
The NBA recently announced that more than 95% of its players had received at least one Covid vaccine. Wiggins, who has not received it yet, will not compete in home games until he does because of a mandate in San Francisco. He will also lose around $350 thousand for each absence.
