Having missed the first NBA preseason game, Carmelo Anthony made his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers jersey, but that did not go as planned.

The California club suffered a loss against the Phoenix Suns 105-117 (21-27, 24-35, 29-40, 31-15).

The Lakers played without LeBron James, Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard, and Russell Westbrook. The LA club did not have much chance versus the NBA vice-champions. The Phoenix Suns had a 28-point lead after the third quarter (102-74).

Carmelo Anthony scored 8 points (4/9 2PT, 0/1 3PT) and grabbed 2 rebounds for the new club in 17 minutes of playing time.

The top scorer was Malik Monk with 18 points (3/4 2PT, 4/7 3PT) and 3 assists. Anthony Davis added 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.

Mikal Bridges stood out in the home team with 15 points (6/14 2PT, 1/4 3PT) and 5 rebounds in 25 minutes.

Deandre Ayton accumulated a double-double, posting 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chris Paul had 8 points and 11 assists in 22 minutes.

Devin Booker and Dario Saric did not participate in the duel.
