Fantasy tips by Leksas for Round 3: flaming hot Giedraitis, Crvena Zvezda’s gem, and consistent White / News - Basketnews.com
Last week, BasketNews Fantasy had plenty of surprises. Jordan Mickey’s poor performance, passive displays from Mario Hezonja, Alpha Diallo, and Mike James didn’t allow to increase the team’s budget. From the recommended players, only Ellie Okobo and Vincent Poirier had a price increase.
In the first couple of weeks, the Fantasy game showed why it’s so fascinating. You try to think logically, but unexpected circumstances and results become the biggest enemy of logic.
BasketNews’ journalist Jonas Leksas after a not very successful week, gives you another five recommendations before the upcoming Round 3 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
The list of players is compiled according to their price and potential return, shape at this point of the season, and the upcoming EuroLeague matchups.
Under €600 thousand
Luka Mitrovic

Price:€121 thousand
Despite the low Serbian forward price, he is one of the main parts of Crvena Zvezda’s frontcourt at the beginning of the season.
In the first two EuroLeague games, 28-years old averaged 25 minutes per game and was raking 11 PIR.
The starting Zvezda’s center played two great games in a row. He finished the game with 19 PIR against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and 16 PIR in the Adriatic League game versus Igokea.
On Wednesday, Zalgiris will be without injured Joffrey Lauvergne, so Mitrovic will have a good chance to put another solid performance.
Under €1 million
Josh Nebo

Price:€663,3 thousand
Nebo will take the starting five center role, and although he still lacks EuroLeague experience, 24-years old forward tries to make it up with a great desire and effort.
The American will play a lot of minutes in Belgrade, and after the head coach change in Zalgiris Kaunas camp, we should see Mantas Kalnietis playing way more pick&rolls, which is ideal for Nebo.
In his last EuroLeague game, Nebo finished with 14 PIR. If he finishes the game against Zvezda with at least 7 PIR, Nebo’s price will increase, so he looks like a safe choice in the center position.
Okaro White

Price:€729,63 thousand
White is a debutant in the EuroLeague, but he already showed his strengths in the first two games, averaging 11.5 PIR. This number could have been even better, but quick fouls against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul limited his minutes.
White was brought by his former head coach Dimitris Priftis, who knows American forward’s strengths. Therefore the acclimatization in a new team didn’t take long.
White can play both facing the basket and in the post, while Baskonia’s frontcourt doesn’t look too threatening.
29-years-old forward looks like a consistent player, doing a lot of hard work, so Panathinaikos OPAP Athens’ inconsistency shouldn’t be a problem for White’s performances.
Under €1.5 million
Rokas Giedraitis

Price:€1.362,6 million
Giedraitis is the number one option in Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, as he averages 18.5 PIR and 19 PIR in the Spanish ACB league.
Lithuanian forward doesn’t have a lot of time to rest. Against AX Armani Exchange Milan, he played 37 minutes, in which he accumulated 20 PIR. Just a few days later, Giedraitis clocked in 33 minutes against Obradoiro and finished the game with 26 PIR.
While Baskonia are still looking for their first victory in the EuroLeague, Giedraitis is in hot form at the moment, and Panathinaikos look like a favorable opponent to do it. However, without a significant Lithuanian input, the Spanish club won’t have a lot of chances to win, so Giedraitis doesn’t have the luxury to stop.
Above €1.5 million
Jan Vesely

Price:€1.681,2 million
2018-19 season MVP began the latest campaign on a high note. Despite the fact that Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul acquired Devin Booker in the summer, Vesely is still averaging 33 minutes per game, in which he accumulates 18.5 PIR.
Playing in both 4 and 5 positions, Czech international gets a lot of touches and receives passes not only from Nando De Colo but Pierria Henry as well.
Last weekend, Vesely’s tip-in rescued Fenerbahce in the Turkish league game against Bahcesehir Istanbul, so there’s no doubt that he’s full of confidence.
Fenerbahce’s forward isn’t a cheap investment, but ALBA Berlin don’t have a physically strong center, so it’s likely that Vesely not only will reach his 18.5 PIR average but even exceed it.
