Zalgiris made an official announcement saying that Lauvergne won’t be able to play from 4 to 6 weeks due to a shoulder injury. The status of the shoulder will be re-evaluated in 4 weeks and if it is not heeled, it might require surgery. It would sideline Lauvergne for the rest of the season.
According to sources, the Zalgiris camp sees the situation pessimistically.
After the loss against Olympiacos Piraeus, head coach Jure Zdovc gave a vague answer.
“From a financial point of view, it’s not easy. We can sign a player to replace Lauvergne while he’s recovering from injury, or sign a player up until the end of the season,” Zdovc said.
However, according to BasketNews sources, Zalgiris are looking to sign a big-man until the end of the 2021-22 season.
Paulius Jankunas and Janis Strelnieks already missed the game against Olympiacos due to injuries. How long both players won’t play, remain unclear.
“No one knows how serious it is. We need to complete medical checks in Kaunas,” Zdovc gave a short answer.
