Barcelona won't need to pay fines for their arena not complying with EuroLeague regulations / News - Basketnews.com
FC Barcelona does not need to pay a fine to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for each match in the competition played at the Palau Blaugrana.
On Sunday, Barcelona's Vice president Elena Fort said that the team had to pay a fine for each home game because the arena "does not comply with EuroLeague regulations."
However, Barcelona denied this statement to Mundo Deportivo.
According to EuroLeague regulations, each licensed club must have a home arena that can accommodate at least 10 000 fans. However, the Palau Blaugrana has a maximum capacity to fit just over 7 500 spectators.
In 2003, FC Barcelona and the EuroLeague agreed that the team would be allowed to play at the Palau Blaugrana until they re-locate to a new arena that complies with the EuroLeague regulations.
However, the club has not started building a new arena yet.
