New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas has agreed on a two-year extension worth $30.1 million, via Andrew Lopez of ESPN.

Valanciunas is now committed to the Pelicans for $44.1M over the next three seasons.

According to Bobby Marks, the two-year $14.7M and $15.4M extension was the maximum that New Orleans could offer right now.

Valanciunas was traded in the off-season and the most he could sign for was a total of three seasons (including what was left on his contract) and a 5% raise.

The 29-year-old averaged 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds in 62 games (61 starts) for Memphis in 2020-21, his ninth season in the NBA.

He has NBA career averages of 12.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1 assist per 621 contests.
