"After consultation with one of the best shoulder specialists in Europe, I will undergo minor surgery this Tuesday. This is the best thing for the continuation of my career. My return is estimated for the end of January, which does not fundamentally change the duration of my absence initially planned. Can't wait to get back on the floor with the team," Lauvergne wrote on Instagram.

The big man got injured in the EuroLeague game against Zenit Saint Petersburg, per the Lithuanian club's announcement. Lauvergne collided with an opponent and fell on the floor at the beginning of the third quarter. After leaving the locker room, the Frenchman tried to come back to the court, but after a few minutes, he had to leave the floor again.

One week ago, BasketNews had reported about Lauvergne possibly requiring surgery to his shoulder in order to resolve the problem, despite Zalgiris issuing an official announcement saying that he won’t be able to play from 4 to 6 weeks.

As it turns out, the former NBA player will miss EuroLeague and LKL action for at least another three months, until he's again cleared to participate.
