"I am very balanced. Speaking of the team, I realize that it was a good evening," Datome commented on Milan's win over FC Barcelona.
"But we're just getting started, and in a while, no one will ever remember who was first in November. Personally, I am happy, but I never lacked self-confidence.
At this point in my career, at the age of 34, I just have to think about being physically well. If I am well, Ettore Messina will play me more," the experienced forward added.Asked about the differences between last year's version of Milan and the current one, Datome noted:
"For sure, this year we are more physical. The addition of Melli also gave us a higher IQ. We're in good team shape, but we need to stay calm. Let's not forget that we played six out of our eight EuroLeague games at home. The road is very long and full of pitfalls, but we are ready to face all the challenges with maximum concentration".Last summer, the former Fenerbahce player didn't join the Italian NT in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade nor in the subsequent Tokyo Olympics. However, as he revealed, he met with the president of FIP Giovanni Petrucci, explaining to him the reasons for his non-participation."What I had to say I told him in person. We greeted each other with affection in Naples, we have known each other for too many years. I will keep making decisions that I consider right for me and the team, even more so if the national team is involved," Datome concluded.
