Dunston was asked if it is true that Kostas Sloukas is his godfather. The 35-year-old center answered with a funny story.
"Yeah. He is younger than me, clearly (laughs). In order to get married to my wife, religion was something that was getting in the way of that. She is an Orthodox Christian, and I was not baptized. Because of it, they were not allowing me to get married.
So, we are in Istanbul, the only other Orthodox Christian I know, happens to be on Fenerbahce," Dunston said with a smile on his face.
"It is the rival team. But he was my teammate in Aris when I first came to Europe. It was a cool kind of coming full circle. He is the nicest guy ever," added the EuroLeague veteran.
Dunston admitted, when he first asked Sloukas about it, the Greek guard thought, he was joking.
"He was like "What?". But it was cool, one morning, we went to the church together: me, him, my wife, the father of her. We did the whole ritual, we read the Bible, and so on. It was crazy but awesome.
I would not change that experience for anything. I feel like, when I came out of there, I was a different person. Then, I was allowed to marry my wife. And now, we (Dunston and Sloukas) are stuck together for life (laughs)," finished Anadolu Efes player.
