"Aye FIBA Basketball Champions League, what are we doing about these AEK fans!? I understand being passionate but running and spitting on the court (especially during a pandemic) is not it! Player safety should be first priority," Ron Curry wrote on his Twitter account.
"It’s wild how these fans and coaches are allowed to say and do whatever they want and we have to be the ones to shut up and take it. I never heard so many 'F yous', 'b*tches', and 'p*ssies' being thrown my way in my life. Not only from fans but from coaches," he added.
"But when I hit a trey and talk my shit, I’m the problem. I’ll never understand."
AEK Athens responded to such a criticism per their official Twitter: "It takes a lot of audacity to accuse fans & coaches of the opponent team while you are actually the one who kept provoking during all the game. Especially at 01:52 before the end of the 3rd quarter, 09:30 before the end of the 4th quarter & 08:50 before the end of the 4th quarter."
"I play the same way every game! Even with no fans in the stands. Check the tape! No excuse for how your coaches and fans acted. I’m not the one spitting in your direction or cursing at your bench. I’m allowed to show emotion if that’s 'provoking'," Curry continued.
"Your inappropriate behavior shouldn’t be unpunished especially when you are playing for a well-respected club like VEF Riga," finished AEK Athens.
