The Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson has been cleared for full-contact practices as he continues his rehab from a torn Achilles suffered in 2020.

Asked about the superstar's return to the court, Warriors coach Steve Kerr was optimistic. "He played 5-on-5 [Monday] and then I think he's going to play 5-on-5 [Wednesday]," Kerr said after Tuesday's 117-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

"James [Wiseman] did not play. He hasn't been cleared yet for 5-on-5, but Klay did, and I got good reports and he's got to keep going. A two-year absence requires a lot of work," the coach added.

The Warriors organization has been hopeful that Thompson could return somewhere around the Christmas period. The superstar guard has ramped up the rehabilitation process recently, and full 5-on-5 practices are a sign towards Thompson's comeback to the brightest stage.

Coach Kerr, however, pointed out that the fans around the world should not expect the Splash brother's return during the upcoming days: "Not just a rehab, but the endurance, the strength, so it's great that he's playing 5-on-5 but it doesn't mean he's going to be ready to step on an NBA floor next week or something, but he's progressing really well."
