On Monday, BasketNews was first to report about the deal.

The big man who can play two positions spent this season in the top-tier Spanish division, representing Surne Bilbao. He left the Basque side and will shortly join Zalgiris.

“We know Regimantas well, as he took his first professional steps in our system. He’s a versatile player that can help our team in two positions, said Zalgiris director Paulius Motiejunas. "Especially now, when unexpected injuries have made even our practice process difficult."

"Having found out that he’s left his former team, we made him an offer, as we had no possibilities to pay a buy-out. We think he hasn’t reached his peak yet, and now has an opportunity to prove himself at the next level,” Motiejunas added.

Miniotas left for Spain mid-last season after a terrific showcase for Prienai, where he averaged 18.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in the Lithuanian league.

After moving to Bilbao, he averaged 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds in the Spanish league, and 7.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in the FIBA Champions League.
