Nets have discussed Pascal Siakam trade with Raptors
After trading Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris to the DallasMavericks in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smithand picks over the weekend, the Brooklyn Nets aren't done wheelingand dealing.
The Nets continue to explore their trade options and they havehad numerous conversations with the Toronto Raptors, according tomultiple reports. While Fred VanVleet and O.G. Anunoby have beenlinked to Brooklyn lately, another name has also come up in thetrade talks: Pascal Siakam.
According to Mike Scotto ofHoopsHype,Brooklyn has tried to pry Siakam away from the Raptors, offeringBen Simmons and several first-round picks for the 28-year-oldforward. Scotto also notes that Toronto covets Nic Claxton, whocould potentially be included in a package for Siakam.
Siakam is averaging 24.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and1.3 threes on .469/.315/.766 shooting splits this season. If theRaptors make Siakam available, there will be plenty of interestedteams.
All eyes are on the Raptors as Thursday's trade deadlineapproaches, as it's unclear whether they'll be a buyer or seller(or simply choose to stand pat). Many rival executives are hopingthat Toronto decides to sell off pieces like Siakam, Anunoby,VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr.
Brooklyn has been communicating with Kevin Durant about possiblemoves as they try to keep him happy and keep the team incontention.
The Nets are currently 32-21, which is the fifth-best record inthe Eastern Conference. Brooklyn has the NBA's fourth-best offense(scoring 114.2 points per 100 possessions) and 10th-best defense(allowing 110.2 points per 100 possessions).
The Raptors are currently 25-30, which is the 11th-best recordin the East. Toronto has the NBA's 14th-ranked offense (scoring112.0 points per 100 possessions) and 20th-ranked defense (allowing112.3 points per 100 possessions).
