After contemplating his future for more than two months, Marc Gasol has decided to return to Girona Basket.

As it was announced by Catalunya Radio, 36-year-old Gasol could make his debut on December 3.

Gasol is also the owner and the president of the Girona club and will spend the whole season in the LEB Oro, the second Spanish basketball division.

At the beginning of the month, Gasol said that the main thought on his mind was for how long he could still play.

“For now, I’m working out, and then we’ll see what I’m going to do. I’m at a point where I want to see for how long I will be able to keep playing and what I’ll feel like doing when I’m in the best possible condition,” he said in Ricardo Moya’s program El sentido de la birra.

The center was also linked with a move to Barcelona, while Juan Carlos Navarro admitted that he would like to see Gasol’s return.

“There’ve been conversations with Marc”, Navarro said last week. “But there’s no real negotiation, although he hasn’t given any refusal. He knows our interest, but he has the last word on everything. I can’t deny that I’d like to have him.”

Since 2008 Gasol was playing in the NBA, where he wore the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, and Los Angeles Lakers jerseys. The Spanish forward became an NBA champion with the Raptors in 2019.

Last season, Gasol spent with the Lakers, where he averaged 5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 52 games.
