Clippers pursuing point guards VanVleet, Rozier, Lowry, Russell
As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Los Angeles Clippersare "the franchise most inclined to land one of the veteran pointguards currently on the block," according to Jake Fischer of YahooSports.
The list of veteran point guards includes Toronto's FredVanVleet, Charlotte's Terry Rozier, Minnesota's D'Angelo Russelland Miami's Kyle Lowry. All of these players have been linked tothe Clippers (as well as the Phoenix Suns — the Clippers' biggestcompetitor on the point-guard market).
Lately, the Clippers have been getting creative at point guard, with Terance Mann and Paul George handling floor-general duties inthe starting lineup in place of Reggie Jackson and John Wall (whohas been out with an abdominal injury).
Last week, Matt Moore of the Action Networkreported that Kawhi Leonard "has made it clear to the Clippersfront office that he would welcome a point guard addition." It'sworth noting that Leonard played with both VanVleet and Lowryduring his stint with the Raptors, winning a championship alongsidethem.
The Clippers are 31-26, which is the fourth-best record in theWestern Conference. Los Angeles has the NBA's 12th-best defense(allowing 110.6 points per 100 possessions), but they rank 22ndoverall in offense (scoring 110.7 points per 100 possessions).
