Panathinaikos underline that "it's not the first time that some conspicuous mistakes have been noticed, which could determine the teams' ranking in the regular season", essentially targeting the Greek Basketball Federation which selected the derby's referees.
Here is the full announcement of Panathinaikos OPAP BC:
"Before we judge you strictly on the officiating, as you requested, we will try to accept that the decisions, the interpretation of the regulations, and what happened in our game against Olympiacos, are the result of the referees' bad day. This is not the first time, however, that in the two months since the new basketball era (editor's note: under the new administration of the Greek Basketball Federation) has started, some conspicuous mistakes have been noticed, which could determine the teams' ranking in the regular season.Panathinaikos OPAP BC explicitly states to whom it may concern that we are not willing to allow anyone to toy with the sweat and effort of our athletes and coaches. We warmly thank our fans for their support and apologize for the traffic chaos that we once again caused on the streets of Athens," the announcement concludes.
