Though, Timma admitted that he is not in perfect shape yet: "Things are good. I am gradually gaining shape. I jumped into a new team with new tactics, everything must be mastered to the end.
Everything goes to understanding what is happening in the team, what kind of basketball UNICS plays in general," the Latvian swingman said.
Janis Timma signed a one-month deal with the Russian squad with the option to extend it until the end of the season. However, the sharpshooter does not feel any pressure due to a temporary contract.
"My fate will definitely not be decided in six games, so I don't feel the pressure," he stressed.
Asked if 29 years is the right age to go to the NBA Summer League, Timma was straightforward: "It seems to me that it makes no difference when to go to the Summer League, besides, I went for the third time.
This summer, for the first time in my life, I did not have a contract with any club. In my entire life, I have never spent an offseason without a contract.
And for the first time, I chose that I will not pen any offers until the NBA Summer League end. It's my goal to get into the NBA. I am trying to reach this purpose in different ways."
In the Sport-Express interview, both sides also touched on the Khimki topic. Earlier, Timma told Delfi that he had not got the best relations with his teammates, except for Alexey Shved.
According to Janis, the situation is different at this moment: "I did not say that they are bad. Now everything is fine, we communicate well," he said briefly.
Asked regarding the fact, Khimki are no longer in the Russian and European basketball elite, the 2.01-meter swingman spoke that it does not evoke many emotions.
"There is no resentment, no joy. Indifference. That life period is in the past, I closed it for myself, and I am moving on. Keeping track of the past, rejoicing in failures - this is a kindergarten of some kind.
It may be interesting to follow the news for someonewho has nothing to do, who is sitting at home and scribbling comments. I'm not in the least interested.
I have my own career, my own path, my own basketball. Life doesn't stop. Now - a new team, all thoughts about UNICS," Timma finished.
