Nando Marino, the president of the team, expressed all his enthusiasm for a project that has been in the making for years.

"We'll be able to host all the Olympic sports in the new arena, except for hockey. We'll be able to host the Davis Cup, the Mediterranean Games, which we hope will be the first big event that we're going to host", Nando Marino said to the reporters.

"There'll be a capacity of 7,000 people, it'll be the biggest arena in Southern Italy. Inside the complex, there'll be room for a convention hall. a gym opened all week, a cafè, a rehabilitation center, and a lot of green around the arena", Marino continued.

The project for the new arena in Brindisi was slowed down because of Covid but now it looks like everything it's ready to start. The work on the arena will start at the beginning of 2022 and it should be ready in 18 months.

Happy Casa Brindisi, who's playing in the Basketball Champions League, has been one of the most growing realities in Italian basketball. Despite not having a huge budget available, their planning has been often really good, and last season were able to reach the semifinals of Serie A.

Riccardo Rossi, the major of Brindisi, said that the new arena will be a landmark for the entire region of Puglia.

"We're getting closer to one of the goals that my administration set since the beginning, giving to the city of Brindisi a sports complex capable of drawing and hosting big events. This structure will change the history of the city".
