Real Madrid (12-1) struggled against Unicaja Malaga in the first half, when they were down by 6 (31-37), but ultimately managed to storm to victory by 79-74 (16-19, 15-18, 31-16, 17-21) behind a great quarter (31-16) on both ends of the court.

The hosts also earned the ticket for the next edition of the Copa del Rey. The ACB leaders were led by Sergio Llull who scored 13 points on 16 PIR. Adam Hanga led all scorers with 14 points, while Walter Tavares (11) and Rudy Fernandez (10) were also in double digits.

Axelle Bouteille (14) and Jaime Fernandez (11) led Unicaja Malaga in scoring, as the team of coach Fotis Katsikaris controlled the game rhythm in the first 20 minutes.

Without a break after a demanding game in Barcelona, Real Madrid jumped to the WiZink Center court facing the scoring pace of Unicaja.

Fabien Causeur, with eight points, and Nigel Williams-Goss paced the hosts, before Jaime Fernandez, Johnathan Barreiro and Norris Cole took over. Unicaja were able to maintain the lead until the third quarter when Lull and recently returned Anthony Randolph hit back-to-back threes to put Real ahead 42-39.

The team coached by Pablo Laso kept scoring throughout the rest of the game, leading by as many as 14 points. Unicaja had no solutions this time and Real took a hard-fought victory, the twelfth in the domestic competition, to continue leading and seal their qualification for the Copa del Rey 2022.

Real Madrid: Adam Hanga 14 (5/8 FG, 4 REB, 3 ST), Sergio Llull 13 (4/7 FG, 1/4 FT, 4 AST), Rudy Fernandez 10, Walter Tavares 11 (5 REB).

Unicaja Malaga: Axelle Bouteille 14 (5/11 FG, 3/3 FT), Jaime Fernandez 11 (4/7 FG, 2/2 FT), Johnathan Barreiro 9.
