After Friday's win at home against Real Madrid, Barcelona first had to travel to the Canary Islands to play against Lenovo Tenerife in the local league on Sunday. Barca did not come home and on Monday had a practice in Tenerife, because it was time for international action.

On Tuesday, Barca plays against Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade in the Serbian capital, then flies directly to the Greek capital to play against Panathinaikos OPAP Athens on Thursday.

Tenerife. Belgrade. Athens. Barcelona. This voyage totals to a whopping number of 8717 kilometers. A home game in the ACB against BAXI Manresa on the 19th of December now seems like a holiday.

Details of Barcelona trip (traveling by plane):

Barcelona to Tenerife - 2245.25 km Tenerife to Belgrade - 3744.87 km Belgrade to Athens - 822.94 km Athens to Barcelona - 1904.51 km Total of 8717.57 km

Head coachSarunas Jasikevicius often mentions the difficulty of traveling thousands of kilometers between cities just to play a single basketball match.

While Barca may be the champion travelers this month, no other team has to cover such distances as UNICS Kazan does. Situated near the Ural mountains, the Russian club has to fly distances that some other EuroLeague teams do not even think about.

The Russian team started off the season with a barrage of long-distance traveling when the first double-week arrived.

After winning a match against FC Bayern Munich in game week 3, UNICS had to fly to Istanbul to play versus Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. The Russian team lost 41-80 and wanted to forget the match as soon as it ended.

After getting outclassed in every way by the Turkish powerhouse, Kazan's club had to fly directly to Krasnoyarsk to play a VTB United League match against Enisey Krasnoyarsk three days later.

A tough win in the overtime marked a tremendously difficult week for UNICS. When they returned to the home of Kazan, the team had traveled a mesmerizing 9640 kilometers during the week.

Details of UNICS trip (traveling by plane):

Kazan to Istanbul - 2205.68 km Istanbul to Krasnoyarsk - 4783.7 km Krasnoyarsk to Kazan - 2651.05 km Total of 9640.43 km

While the NBA's teams travel upwards of 80,000 kilometers per year, some European teams cover ridiculous distances to play matches in just a week. If their favorite team's performance suffers on the court, fans may know one more reason to blame.
