The deal is for one and a half years, until the end of the 2022-23 season, with the option of a possible extension. The 23-year-old, 1.93 m. guard is set to make his EuroLeague debut."A young versatile player, whom we have been watching for quite a long time. Carter is able to perform both as a point guard and an attacking defender. His progress allows us to say with confidence that he is capable of reaching a new level in the very near future and becoming a EuroLeague player," Zenit CEO Alexander Tserkovny commented on Carter's addition.

"Tyson Carter is a young and very talented player," Sports Director Manos Papadopoulos commented.

"We have followed this player for a long time and we believe that he has great potential and is ready to help us achieve the highest results. Important to mention that he played under the guidance of an excellent coach (editor's note: Christos Serelis) in a well-organized team, which makes him an even more attractive player.

I am sure that a great future awaits him."

This season, Carter scored 15.9 points, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals on average per game in the Greek Basket League and the FIBA Champions League, while shooting 55% from the field, 41% from behind the arc, and 71% from the free-throw line.

He was the BCL's fourth overall scorer with 17.8 points per game.

A Mississippi State alumn, Carter led Lavrio to the finals of the Greek league in his rookie season. For a team founded in 1990 in a city located around 60 kilometers from the center of Athens, it was the first trip to the finals of their domestic league in their history.

The shooting guard averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steals while shooting 42% from the three-point line in his rookie season, quickly becoming one of the best' surprises' around Europe.

This summer, Carter ended up re-signing for another season with Lavrio despite some interest from Greek powerhouse Olympiacos. "I talked to them a little bit, but ultimately I went to the Summer League, and after that, I re-signed with Lavrio," Carter said to BasketNews back in September.
