In addition to the basketball arena (it accounts for about half of the area), it will include facilities designed for the needs of the Russian Ministry of Defense - a swimming pool, a trampoline and acrobatic hall, gyms and martial arts halls. The construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.Per the official announcement: The future home arena of CSKA is a specialized basketball center that meets the requirements of FIBA. According to the plan, its capacity will be 5,000 spectators.
The project will take into account all the most modern engineering and technological solutions. In particular, it is planned to transform the stands for international competitions in various sports, as well as for concert and entertainment events. The complex will house the office and training base of the CSKA basketball club, including a separate spacious locker room, a gym, and a medical and rehabilitation center. The best basketball club in the country will receive a home arena worthy of it — modern, functional, and beautiful," said Vladimir Potanin, President of Norilsk Nickel."This will allow CSKA to ensure an effective training process and improve the quality of club management. The winner will be not only the team but also its fans, as well as all sports fans. We are confident that our complex will become a new point of attraction on the sports map of Moscow.""CSKA basketball club has historically been and remains an army team," noted Andrey Vatutin, President of the club.
"For almost a hundred years of history, we have worked and won together, we are connected by victories, vivid memories, significant places. The greatest players in world basketball defended the jersey of CSKA and our country on the court of the legendary hall, which we now want to revive at a new level. I am glad that this work has reached the final stage, we are approaching the construction stage.
The most important thing is that the basketball club can find a home again in a short time. The project looks very interesting, modern, and functional. Our club will receive a full-fledged training base, facilities for functional training and recovery of players, an excellent arena for holding matches of the VTB United League, and three "junior" teams, an office, a museum, a club shop at a location familiar to our fans.
We will continue to use Megasport for EuroLeague matches. This will allow us to work more efficiently and achieve new big victories," Vatutin concluded.
