Neven Spahija returned to Vitoria 13 years after his first stage with the Basque team. The Croatian coach is truly loved as he led Bitci Baskonia to win the ACB League and the Spanish Supercup. That season, 2007-08, they also reached the Euroleague Final Four.

Back in November 2021, Spahija was announced as the new head coach after Ivanovic's departure. He had a clear mission: to recover Baskonia's character.

In an interview with the official ACB League page, Spahija admitted he was excited to come back to Baskonia.

"I wished to return here and be part of a big club like this one. I know it is difficult to come in the middle of the season, but it is part of our job, it can happen many times", expressed Neven.

One of the main problems for Baskonia at the beginning of the season was Wade Baldwin IV's adaptation to the team.

"In each team, there are different characters. We need to do a lot more out of the court. He has a great talent. If he plays as he has been training in the last weeks, there will not be any problem", said Spahija, who is used to managing this kind of situation.

Talking about some of the players in the current roster, Spahija confessed he had been impressed with Steven Enoch's attitude.

"Enoch has a talent I have never seen in a long time. His attitude is amazing. If he is still doing this, the sky is his limit".

Spahija knows where he is. He understands how demanding it is to be in Baskonia.

"Our goal is always the same. To play 100%. Josean (the President) thinks like this. Me too. We can not miss our character. We must try to win every single game. Approach the game is our philosophy", he concluded.
