The Serbian center then responded by shoving Morris with his back turned to the ground.
On Thursday evening, Markieff Morris responded to a tweet that highlighted he would be missing his 30th consecutive game and said, "Ain't shit wild about it! It's a real injury! Imagine having a 300-pound sloppy fat boy run full speed and make direct contact with your spine! I'll be back soon like I said."
The NBA suspended Jokic one game without pay after the altercation, and Morris was fined $50,000 for committing a flagrant 2 foul. In addition, Miami forward Jimmy Butler was fined $30,000 for attempting to escalate the altercation.
The Heat forward was emotional after the match and took to Twitter to express his thoughts. "No doubt I took a hard foul which I always do, but I've never hit a man with his back turned," Morris said after the match.
The incident sparked a reaction both from the Morris brothers and, most notably, from the Jokic brothers. The Serbian brothers even created a new Twitter account to voice their opinion.
"You should leave this the way it is instead of publicly threatening our brother! Your brother made a dirty play first. If you want to make a step further, be sure we will be waiting for you," the brothers tweeted after the match.
Nikola Jokic is currently 3rd in All-Star voting in the Western Conference and 2nd in frontcourt voting. The Serbian averages 25.7 points, 14.2 rebounds, and 7 assists per game, while Morris averages 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
