Marc Gasol, 36, announced his return to Europe back in November. He is currently playing in Girona, his own club, averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds per game in the Spanish second division.

The veteran center made his decision after a successful journey in the NBA, where he spent 13 seasons. Gasol confessed in an interview with Marca that he does not miss it yet.

"The door was not closed. If I had liked to continue there, I would be there now. It was not my priority. I am not nostalgic. I do not usually miss things. I really enjoyed my time in the NBA", explained Gasol.

Marc is not just the player of Basquet Girona, he is also the president.

"It is challenging to lead a club in continuous growth. It demands learning that needs time. I was used to doing it on the court, but it is slightly different at the front office," he admitted.

One of the main reasons for leaving the United States and coming back to Spain was his family.

"First of all, my daughter asked me if I would need to travel. I could not spend too many days being out. That was the idea. They are satisfied because they see their dad happy," said the NBA champion.

Marc Gasol recognized he had some conversations with FC Barcelona, but not the ones people thought.

"I talked to one of the people I love the most in this world, who is Juan Carlos Navarro, and I explained my situation. But there was not anything else," he pointed out.

Asked if he is in the last year of his career, Gasol preferred not to think in the long term.

"I want to enjoy every single day. We are always thinking about tomorrow. Let's see. It depends on how you feel. It is not necessary to make decisions about things that will happen in two or three months," he concluded.
